Breakthrough!
This year, OMF International's Southwest region event was held at Camp Maranatha, Idyllwild from September 12–14. The timing was planned to coincide with the international launch of the new OMF International docudrama Breakthrough: The Story of James O. Fraser and the Lisu People of southwest China. In fact, it also coincided with the centenary of Fraser’s own launch into a profoundly fruitful missionary career – he arrived in China on September 12th, 1908. The Breakthrough story emphasizes the power of God - through the prayers of his people and the faithfulness of his servant.
Sixty people came to enjoy this event - 45 stayed for the whole weekend and others came for selected sessions. Together we enjoyed ....
- Powerful worship – led by The Fragrance – drew us near to God’s heart and together in song. It also declared God’s victory over evil and glorified his name!
- Warm fellowship – in large groups, small groups and personal conversations, we were able to enter more deeply into each others lives – joys, sorrows, dreams and plans.
- Seasons of prayer – personal reflection and renewal, praise and thanksgiving, and intercession for our dark and broken world – we set aside time and designed activities to facilitate these.
It was a great location to enjoy both the beauty of God’s creation and "spiritual space" to breathe and grow. We thank God for his hand on the details of this event and are already looking forward to the next one!

OMF's mission is to glorify God by the urgent evangelization of East Asia's millions.
We want to fulfill our mission by:
- partnering with churches in the region by sharing vision, needs and opportunities
- stimulating and resourcing individual and group prayer for God's work in East Asia
- identifying, nurturing and equipping potential OMF candidates - short, medium and long term
- encouraging mission awareness and involvement on campuses in the region
