Confucius Makes a Comeback

China’s rekindled love affair with Confucius took another significant step forward when 1,000 members of China’s once most powerful aristocratic clan, the Kongs, were shown the first complete edition of their family tree for more than 70 years. Amid the blast of horns and thumping of drums at the great temple in the sage’s ancestral town of Qufu in Shandong, the 80-volume genealogy containing 2 million names was unveiled by the 83-year-old elder of the clan.
