The Life and Witness of Alice Yuan

Alice Yuan, the wife of well-known house-church leader Allen Yuan, died peacefully in Beijing before dawn on August 2. Her six children, seven grandchildren and two house-church co-workers were at her bedside. The family says, “We gave prayers and hymns for her glorious calling back to her heavenly home.” Please pray for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. May the Lord comfort them and encourage them to continue their forebears’ faith.

Other Stories

  • Confusion

It is often said that the church in China is “post-denominational,” and some people overseas believe that there are no denominations now. It is true that the old foreign denominations and missions no longer exist institutionally (although they often still have a lingering influence theologically and in church traditions), but actually the church in China is divided into many new denominations and there are borderline groups, sects and cults which confuse new converts. A recent letter from a Brother Liu in Henan province illustrates the point.

  • November Prayer Points

    1. Praise God for the life and testimony of Alice Yuan. Pray for her family in their bereavement and for the house churches in Beijing who have lost a “mother in Israel.”

    2. Pray that more evangelical theological works can be openly published in China to counter extreme prosperity theology and other false teachings. Pray for OMF International’s apologetic literature team in Hong Kong.
