Reaching Chinese in Diaspora
Currently, more than 3 million Chinese students, scholars and their families are scattered abroad, living outside their homelands—all ages, from every part of China. OMF International’s Chinese Diaspora Ministry (CDM) is currently working in six countries (Japan, New Zealand, Germany, the UK, Canada, and the U.S.) to give the gospel which transforms lives to these living away from their homeland. It is now widely estimated that of the 100,000 Chinese who go abroad each year, about 10,000 of them return to China as Christians! What does Good News Look Like?
Sometimes reaching others with good news just looks like fun. Chronicles of Narnia movies, PB & J, Oreos and English … blended together and shared with love builds foundations for friendship. Last summer workers in China took time out of their “regular” activities to work alongside a short-term team. They invested a few weeks teaching 22+ energetic middle school students. Mornings included lessons about western culture (such as holidays and food) and afternoons were spent in activities like cutting out snowflakes, watching English movies, making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or playing the Oreos twist-off game. Ask God to work in these new relationships to bring some to himself. – from OMF International worker in China.
