BridgeAsia: New Volunteer Ministry Sweeps the United States

Crucial. Essential. Influential. Valuable. Special. These are the ways we describe BridgeAsia volunteers , people like you who are serving with OMF International in local communities. Volunteers like Allie Mutz, a college student at the University of Missouri, and C. Lin , who works in technical sales in California, are serving God by spreading the message of reaching the peoples East Asia.

Each month Allie meets with a group of students to pray. Her ministry opened doors for her to lead an event on campus as part of the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. “God has allowed me the privilege to share in his work for East Asia by praying for missionaries, countries and people groups,” Allie expressed. “Volunteers in BridgeAsia are a key asset to spreading the gospel in East Asia; God will work through their prayers and their mobilization of people.”

Halfway across the United States, C. serves in a different capacity. Together with his family, C. believes God desires to use him to mobilize people on behalf of the Bouyei people group who have yet to receive Christ. “The most rewarding moment in my BridgeAsia ministry is when God takes me to places where his people are eager to know or get involved and I am there to connect them with resources or opportunities,” he said. During one of his first advocacy opportunities representing OMF International at a mission conference, C. saw eight families accept the call to pray for the Bouyei using OMF International’s 30-day prayer guide.

BridgeAsia volunteers span from Massachusetts to southern California and several states in between. The ministry began in 2007 with the vision of seeing a grassroots movement of people serving locally to grow the church in East Asia. Today more than 30 volunteers are the bridge for God’s message to move across the United States in order for more prayer, resources and workers to be sent. Volunteers serve by advocating, praying, encouraging, mentoring and educating the church in the U.S. about the needs for East Asia.

God has led OMF International to seek him for 900 new workers, and as that vision expands, we are looking for more men and women like you to join our volunteer team. Ordinary people are stepping out in faith to serve in extraordinary ways as volunteers in their hometowns. We are seeing increased awareness for the unreached, prayer teams starting, short-term teams being sent, workers being recruited and resources distributed. You can be a part of this movement.

Allie is eager to see the prayers of her team significantly impact the missionary work in East Asia and chiefly see the gospel spread more clearly, rapidly and deeply. Volunteers like Allie and C. have hearts tender for the people of East Asia. By serving in this way, they know that it is making a difference for the nations.

By volunteering right in your community, you can make just as much of a difference among the unreached as a person living among them. Together with OMF International, you can be that person in your neighborhood or church. We believe volunteers around the United States are bringing in the harvest by serving here and now.
