An OMF field worker describes the diversity of short-term workers

What does a short-term missionary look like?

In case you think short-term ministry in East Asia is limited to college students teaching English, let me introduce you to some of our team members this year ...

We did have a number of young people from Canada and the U.S. here to teach English. However, we also had a 67-year-old retired woman who taught English, music (the recorder) and crafts to our village kids. We had a family (mom, dad and two children ages 10 and 12) who worked with the Vacation Bible School program. We had a pastor who wanted to see the work first hand so he could challenge his church in their vision for missions. We had a computer programmer who helped us set up a new computer system for our library. We had a family counselor who led sessions for our social worker training program as well as parenting classes in the church. And this month, we have an accountant coming to help us set up the financial books for a new project.

He or she looks like you, someone committed to using the gifts and talents that God has given to be a living testimony of the love of God in this place. If you are interested in being a part of what God is doing in the world, let us know and we can direct you to people who can help you find a place to serve.
