Jan Burton
After 22 years as an editor in Christian education publishing, Jan joined BridgeAsia because the Lord put on her heart the desire to start a prayer group for Southeast Asia. She’d been praying in various groups for over 30 years. Today Jan meets once a month in her home to pray for OMF International workers and missions with 10-15 people.
“It’s been fulfilling to see the members of our prayer fellowship really bonding as a group and see them coming to deeply identify with the missionaries that we uphold in prayer,” said Jan.
God has revealed to Jan through this group how significant prayer is to what happens on the fields. “Even a small group of prayer warriors can an impact on the movement of the Spirit in the most difficult areas of the world.” She’s also seen those in her group grow spiritually. “There is one member who shared that his prayer life has really been enriched through coming to our group and he’s learned to pray with more depth,” shared Jan.
“BridgeAsia is a vehicle through which people’s interest in missions, spiritual gifts, natural talents and desire to reach and disciple people in East Asia can be used of God, even though they may not be on the field personally.”
Today Jan would like to see more prayer groups grow throughout Colorado. “I would like to see believers become more personally involved with missionaries and more knowledgeable about the various fields of the world. I would like to see missions become a more integral part of every Christian’s world view.”
