Event Coordinator

Responsible to: Area Coordinator

Relates closely with: other local volunteer team members, regional director, other area coordinators in region.

Purpose: To educate and mobilize people toward the urgent evangelization of East Asia’s peoples through the planning and execution of effective OMF events within your community.

Responsibilities:

  • Model a consistent witness for Christ, praying regularly for OMF’s ministries, other team members, advocacy opportunities and the people you are serving.
  • In coordination with designated OMF leadership—plan, organize and host OMF events in your area (Includes; budgeting, venue, speakers etc.) approx. 1-2 events per year.
  • Recruit, screen, train, and lead a team to coordinate and execute events with you.
  • Participate in volunteer team meetings (approximately once a quarter).
  • Meet regularly with area coordinator for mentoring and sharing ministry results.
  • Keep current on OMF’s ministry (OMF website, volunteer intranet, materials etc.).

Options:

  • Invite friends, family and church members to OMF events.
  • Serve at other OMF sponsored events in your area.
  • Set-up events for OMF field staff in your area.
  • Host a mission event at your local church.

Time commitment: Approximately 2-4 hours a week (some weeks may be busier than others).

Length of commitment: One year renewable by mutual agreement.

Training:

  • Completion of OMF volunteer initial training course.
  • Informal, ongoing training conducted by direct supervisor. Additional training also offered through the OMF Intranet and during quarterly volunteer meetings.

Special qualifications:

  • Administrative/organizational skills.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Previous experience in event planning.
  • Detail-oriented or ability to accomplish tasks thoroughly with timeliness.
  • Good money management abilities.
