Of the 1.2 billion Mainland Han Chinese, about half of are non-religious and roughly 25 to 30 percent practice Chinese religions. Pray for these to come to know Jesus in a personal way.
Position: Serve Asia (Short-term) Program Coordinator with focus on sending short-term workers to China and Mongolia
Responsible to: Serve Asia Facilitator; Mobilization Director
Relates with: Serve Asia staff, overseas personnel, U.S. mobilization team
About OMF: OMF International is committed to seeing an indigenous biblical church movement for each people group in East Asia. Our U.S. mobilization team’s mission is to join with God to inform, inspire, influence and involve God’s people in the urgent evangelization of East Asia’s peoples through the six practices of mission (going, sending, praying, mobilizing, welcoming, and learning).
The Serve Asia program is one of our key strategies in this effort. We are looking for two committed and gifted individuals to join OMF’s Serve Asia program to coordinate short-term workers going to East Asia.
Requirements:
A mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Desire to see God’s glory known among the peoples of East Asia.
A teachable spirit and flexible attitude.
A heart to invest in others preparing to serve God in mission.
Ability to work within an international, interdenominational organization.
Ability to proactively plan and work.
Ability to work on a team.
Strong network/connections to Christian circles in the U.S. (churches, pastors, campuses, other organizations, prayer groups, friends, etc.).
A strong support team for both prayer and finances (full financial support is needed).
Endorsed and supported by local pastor and church.
Minimum three-year commitment.
Responsibilities:
Short-term opportunities development and planning.
Recruiting and coaching team leaders.
Preparation of short-term workers / team development.
Strategic networking.
- Recruiting and marketing for specific field short-term needs.
- Developing partnerships with churches, schools and organizations. - Connecting resources (people) with needs on the fields.
These responsibilities are further explained in the six categories below:
Development. Researches needs of missionaries/ fields in their church planting strategies, looks for creative opportunities, and develops ways to introduce more people to the unreached in East Asia. Visits to fields to nurture relationships with other coordinators, missionaries, ministries.
Planning. Coordinates logistics for each program (dates, ministry involvement, budget, training and debriefing, etc.). Recruits and trains team leaders, corresponds with churches and universities for partnerships, and works with other Serve Asia staff for overall program planning.
Promotion. Compiles information for each program for use in recruiting. Assists in development and distribution of promotional materials (OMF website, brochures, conferences, partnering websites, etc.).
Nurture. Corresponds with interested groups or individuals about Serve Asia programs (through phone calls, emails, visits) and prays with them for God’s leading in field placement. Reviews and screens applicants for acceptance into the Serve Asia program.
Preparation. Facilitates communication between team leader and field workers; arranges travel logistics, nurtures team leader and team members before departure. Assists with pre-field training sessions in the summer in Colorado and ensures proper training for other seasonal and partnership teams.
Follow-up. Debriefs team leaders and attends debriefing sessions in the summer in California. Evaluates programs after receiving feedback from field workers and participants; finalizes financial accounts; works with Alumni Coordinator to ensure transition of all Serve Asia workers into intentional follow-up.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and support level (you will need to raise full financial support for living and ministry expenses). We ask mobilization team members to raise support to decrease the amount of money field workers need to contribute to mobilization expenses.
