In Asia & in the US:
You will have the opportunity to process and evaluate your Serve Asia experience when you receive debriefing both on the field and when you return to the US. You will also receive materials to help you integrate your experience into your life at home. Our goal is not just to train you for your time overseas. Ultimately, our desire is that your entire short-term experience in the Serve Asia program will prepare you to live out the unique role God has for you in the Great Commission.
Although each person's relationship with God is at the core of their experience, it is also vital that individuals be provided with personal interaction and support as they process and reflect on their trip. Your debriefing with us will not be the end, but the beginning of your transition back into daily life.
What to expect if you are attending a Serve Asia Debriefing weekend:
- 3 days with OMF & other Serve Asia workers to reflect on what you have learned and experienced
- Corporate worship & prayer
- Discuss opportunities to integrate your experience as you return to daily life at home
- Preparation to effectively tell your story to others
- Time to relax & recover from jet lag! (Asia is the furthest away from North America)
The attendance cost (not including travel to and from) is built into the overall cost of the trip. (Note: Partnership Team debriefings incorporate the same elements, but may vary by team.)
