OMF's Diaspora, or Ethnic Ministries, program in the U.S.A. began in 1985. Recognizing the great opportunity before us, we seek to reach out to Asian ethnic peoples "while they are here." God has been doing a new thing with ethnic America, bringing people from every nation to our shores in unprecedented numbers. The initial target groups included students, scholars, displaced peoples and immigrants. The priority continues to be in this order, with the emphasis on those returning to their home countries. The Ethnic Ministries Program here seeks to support and identify with our field ministries in Southeast Asia.

Ministry opportunites include:

  • Identifying people and places for evangelism and discipleship.
  • Development of adequate follow-up for returnees.
  • Distribution of pre-evangelistic apologetic literature, discipleship and follow-up materials.
  • Mobilizing Christians for ministry to East Asians.
  • Networking and cooperating with other groups of similar ethos and vision, including attending and sponsoring conferences, developing campus networks, and even church planting when the situation or need arises.

Ministry focus:

Current EMP Ministries focus on Chinese, Japanese and Indonesian students and professionals, as well as outreach to Thai Buddhist monks in the U.S.A. We are always seeking to expand our team and the people groups that God has led us to within the U.S.A.
