Prayer Point

Pray for the nearly 50 million Hakka in China and Taiwan whose religion is a blend of Buddhism, Confucianism, Daoism and ancestor worship. Motivated mainly by fear and superstition, they will do anything in any religious context, as long as it wards off bad luck or improves their lot in life.

OMF CANADA

 

Our Vision: To mobilize the church in Canada to send God-chosen, willing, skillful workers for the urgent evangelization of East Asia’s peoples.

 

Our Mission: To glorify God by inspiring and enabling Canada’s Christians to participate in the urgent evangelization of East Asia’s peoples.

 

Strategy: OMF International Canada exists for the sole purpose of bringing glory to God by being used of him (he is the lord of the mission) in missions for the urgent evangelization of East Asia’s peoples. This entails a ministry of making disciples (evangelism, discipleship and perfecting ministries) that form interdependent communities (first and foremost churches, but also church associations/denominations and organizations) that reach out in missions to other peoples. Our focus is upon East Asia’s peoples wherever they may be found in a global context. We have also, with intention, focused upon the unreached people groups (UPGs) and are committed to the development of the church in creative access nations (CANs). We are but one branch of an international organization that owns this commitment before God.

 

Within OMF-CA the above means a mobilization ministry of prayer, people and resources among all Canadian churches as well as an active diaspora ministry (evangelism, discipleship and perfecting) in conjunction with Canadian churches among East Asia’s peoples (church, campus, public square). It also entails the development of people (mobilization, member development and member care) and accompanying structures, practices and policies in order for us to accomplish our calling.

 

1. There are two broad departments that encompass our ministry tasks: Mobilization Ministry Department (prayer, people and resources) and Diaspora Ministry Department.
2. The Human Resources Department that develops and cares for the people that carry out the ministry tasks. The twin foci are upon member care and member development.
3. The Administrative and Financial Department that provides administrative and financial support that under girds the Mobilization Dept., the Diaspora Dept. and Human Resource Dept. initiatives.

Critical Personnel Needs:

• Mobilizers: We desire key “story tellers” in our regions to share of key opportunities for ministry in East Asia, both short-term and long term. Ministry positions available especially in the provinces of Ontario and British Columbia.
• Serve Asia Department: Internships are available in the National Office of OMF Canada (greater Toronto) to help out Serve Asia coordinators in mobilizing and supporting bother new short-term workers and those who have returned (our alumni).
• Volunteers: We are always in need to those who could help with website and database design and maintenance, word-processing and mailings. We could also use volunteers in our regions across Canada helping out with regional events, activities and our home assignees.
• Accounting support: People with accounting skills and book-keeping skills would be very helpful in our national office.
