OMF CAMBODIA

Vision: Through God's grace we long to see the transformation of Cambodia through the proclamation and demonstration of the good news of Jesus Christ.

Mission: To glorify God by modeling Christ in our daily lives, ministering through compassion, teaching and training, making disciples, establishing churches, equipping leaders and mobilizing the church for local and cross-cultural mission.

Strategy: The OMF Cambodia team is made up of two main sections: church work and development work, along with a small support team which provides leadership, administration and financial support.

Development Work
As an OMF team we are aiming to achieve transformational development of individuals and communities through the introduction of physical, emotional, spiritual, environmental and social change. Individuals in the team play different roles within this overall strategy.

We seek to share Christ’s love and our skills with national colleagues, so that in their own working situations they may experience God’s love and can eventually use those skills to train others also. Our desire is to see our Cambodian colleagues and friends come to faith and maturity in Jesus Christ. We will witness, disciple, nurture and mentor where appropriate. We aim to help those who are looking for spiritual nurture to find a suitable evangelical church.

Our present priorities are education, health care and social care.

Church Work
OMF Cambodia members work in three main areas of church ministry. Some are designated to direct church planting, with a focus on the unreached and lesser reached areas of Cambodia. Some are designated to church strengthening ministries. Others are involved in para-church or interchurch ministries, for example with the Evangelical Fellowship of Cambodia. Where appropriate, we seek to work in partnership with the emerging national church and/or other mission agencies.

Our present priorities are Khmer church planting (especially rural areas), tribal church work (Krung, Brao and Cham), theological education, leadership training, student work and the production of Christian resources.

Our normal practice is to place our members in teams to ensure adequate professional support, fellowship and pastoral care. Where a critical need requires an OMF member to work in isolation from other OMF colleagues, we will seek to establish a link with other Christian NGO workers or a local Khmer church.

Critical Personnel Needs:

  • English teachers for government departments and the Royal University of Phnom Penh
  • Lecturer in theology at the Phnom Penh Bible College
  • Trainer of Christian writers or publishers to assist with developing Khmer resources
  • Student workers with IFES style ministry experience
