Imagine communities of believers from every people group in East Asia worshiping God, growing as his disciples and stepping out in sacrifice and obedience to make him known among all peoples. Imagine as well God’s people throughout the United States prayerfully and purposefully stepping out in sacrifice and obedience to see God receive the glory that is due his name from among all nations, especially those currently on the neglected frontiers. What a joy to receive glimpses of God fulfilling the vision in East Asia as well as throughout the United States. At the same time, there are enormous challenges on both fronts.
Informing, inspiring and involving God’s people in his purposes for the nations form the essence of our mobilization efforts. In 2007 the 30 career and 23 associate members (one to three-year terms) combined with more than 160 Serve Asia workers (short-term, less than 12 months) were a tremendous encouragement from God.
We praise God that these workers also represent thousands of people involved in supporting missionaries with prayer, finances and emotional and spiritual encouragement, many for the first time. Likewise we are grateful for dozens of new church relationships and are endeavoring to develop those relationships into true partnerships.
With a goal of 400 members by the end of 2010 (nearly double our membership at the beginning of 2006), we are conscious of our dependence on the Lord of the harvest. In addition to the development of our Church Partnerships department and BridgeAsia volunteer ministry program, we see God providing a growing mobilization team in critical areas like following-up with contacts and short-term alumni, communication ministries and Serve Asia. The provision of these new team members spurs us on to strengthen current mobilization ministries and develop new ones.
