FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

LeMei Littlefield, wife of (U.S.) National Director, Michael Littlefield, is in Heaven

Littleton, Colorado – June 19, 2012

LeMei Littlefield, wife of OMF International (U.S.) National Director Michael Littlefield, went to heaven this morning following a battle with a rare form of T-cell lymphoma.

“LeMei has been healed. She is dancing with Jesus. She went to be with the Lord at 7:17 this morning, June 19 … No eye has seen, no ear has heard what LeMei is experiencing now,” Michael wrote in announcing her passing.

LeMei was born on July 14, 1958 in Taipei, Taiwan, where her father worked in business. Growing up in Taiwan, LeMei became fluent in Mandarin Chinese, a skill that God would later use as she served him on the mission field in East Asia.

LeMei gave her life to the Lord in her early 20s while on staff at Tunghai University as an English teacher. She held degrees from Antioch College (B.A. in Literature) in Yellow Springs, Ohio and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (M.A. Theological Studies) in South Hamilton, Massachusetts. While at Gordon-Conwell, she met Michael. They were married in August 1983.

Michael and LeMei joined OMF International in 1986 and served two terms on the field in Taiwan, first in church-planting work in south Taiwan and later providing pastoral care of 25 missionaries in Taipei, as well as discipleship ministry in the local church. During those years, LeMei led a Bible study for young mothers and a monthly support group for women who were married to non-Christians.

From 1998-2004, Michael, with LeMei by his side, served as International Director for Personnel from OMF International’s headquarters in Singapore. In 2004 the Littlefields moved to Littleton, Colorado where Michael took up the role of Director for Personnel for OMF International (U.S.), followed by his appointment as U.S. National Director in 2011. LeMei most recently served as TCK (Third-culture Kid) Advisor for OMF International (U.S.).

LeMei was consumed with a love for Jesus and the people in her life. Her last entry on her CaringBridge website, reveals the contagious joy LeMei found in the Lord and her desire to share that with others: “May you feel the sunshine of his love today … He loves us, He loves us, He loves us!”

LeMei is survived by her husband Michael and three children: Stacia (25) Aaron (24) and Micala (20). A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, June 23 at 10 a.m. at Jubilee Fellowship Church in Lakewood, Colorado (6800 W. Hampden Ave., Lakewood, CO 80227). Childcare will be provided at the church in the nursery.

Memorial donations may be made payable to OMF International with a note indicating preference for the Foundations for Growth Fund. No flowers please.
