Norris, Peter and Belinda
Peter and Belinda Norris
Serving in Taiwan
Peter grew up in a Christian family in New Zealand, but did not think much about God until his family moved to a solid, Bible-teaching church. He responded quickly to the love he was shown and to the message of the gospel and was baptized several years later. He still had many struggles with assurance which caused him to be unstable as a Christian, but things began to change when he read about Martin Luther and justification by grace alone through faith in Christ alone. Then Peter was able to rest in Christ and his words, "Do not be afraid, from now on I will make you a fisher of men."
Belinda was born in Taiwan and had Christian roots, but did not understand much about God until she came to the United States to study and lived with her cousins, who were strong Christians. They took her to church, and over a period of time she observed and understood what it meant to be a Christian and what God had done for her. She was baptized two years later.
Belinda and Peter met at a Taiwanese church in San Diego while they were both foreign students. After getting married they returned to New Zealand and then came back to the U.S. to work in Maryland. Peter and Belinda have grown in their relationship with Christ as they served at a Taiwanese church in Baltimore. Peter has been stretched through his teaching, preaching and leadership responsibilities. Belinda has grown as she served in the women's group. They have both been blessed by the faithful examples of Christian friends.
Belinda and Peter began praying about serving the Lord in Taiwan about three years ago. Together with their three children, Christy, Jeremiah and Chloe, they plan to work among Taiwan's working class. The Norris family want to make friends with working-class families through the many contexts of everyday family and work life, and to invite them to participate in the informal gatherings for Bible discussion that OMF has been developing.
