Wailan Ng
Serving Christ in Macau
Wailan was born in Hong Kong to a non-Christian family and lived there twelve years. While attending a Christian school she trusted in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior shortly before she left for the United States. No one discipled her immediately after conversion, and when she came to the States, she did not have the opportunity to join any Christian groups. Thus, during the first decade of her Christian life, she remained a spiritual infant.
But the Lord did not give up on her. He gave her a great hunger for His Word and she started reading the Bible on her own, even though she didn’t know how to go about studying the Bible. She also felt a great need to belong to a church. Finally, after several years, Wailan started attending a Bible-teaching church and was fed with the Word of God.
Wailan enjoyed her work in the laboratory, but she had a greater sense of fulfillment in seeing young Christians growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. Therefore, she decided to go to seminary to learn the basic tools in order to help others learn and teach the Word of God.
The United States is blessed with resources and manpower for evangelical Christian ministries. Wailan wants to see some of these resources being channeled to areas that are less fortunate. When she considered her background, interests, strengths and weaknesses, she felt OMF’s mission and vision as an organization seemed to match best with hers. She joined OMF in June 2000.
Wailan is discipling new believers in Macau and working alongside local churches in various capacities.
