Tammy Lind

Medical Work in Cambodia

Tammy was born in Minnesota in 1966. Her parents brought her to the local Lutheran church where she learned that God loved her and many other truths and hymns that shaped her thinking.

During the 1970s she was touched by new reports showing the effects of drought in Africa, and wished she knew how to help. After earning a B.A. in chemistry at St. Olaf College, she signed up for the Peace Corps and taught science in Western Samoa.

In 1992 she moved to Rochester, Minnesota, to work in a research lab. There she attended an evangelical church with an effective singles ministry. Through Bible study and the witness of other singles, she came to a more complete knowledge of God's plan of salvation.

She also met single missionaries who sparked her interest in missions. The interest was humanitarian at first, but gradually she realized that people need, more than anything else, to know God and His forgiveness. She earned a BSN and a certificate in biblical studies. Since 1997 she has been working as an RN in Rochester, Minn.

Because of Cambodian contacts, a desire has grown in Tammy to serve in Cambodia, where she has been serving with OMF International since 2003.
