Richard and Kathy Konieczny

National Director of OMF Canada

Richard and Kathy Konieczny began serving with OMF in 1989. Their desire to see "East Asia's peoples come to Christ" led them, first of all, to Indonesia, and now to minister with OMF Canada. They served as the Ontario Regional Directors (1998-2003) and now serve in the role of Canadian National Director.

Richard became a Christian at the age of 17 while living in the Midland, Ontario, area, and there committed his life to full-time Christian ministry. Kathy came to know the Lord at an early age, and it was during her high school years in Portsmouth, Virginia, that the Lord gave her a desire to serve Him in missions. Richard and Kathy became partners in pursuing their common call during their university years and have three children, Kathryn (1987), Laurie (1988) and Jonathan (1994).

In 1989 the Koniecznys went to Indonesia where they served the Lord in a ministry of theological education, student work and pastoral ministry. Richard taught in the OT department of the Biblical Studies faculty of Christian University of Indonesia at Tomohon (UKIT) as a full-time faculty member and also at the Southeast Asia Biblical Theological Seminary (SAAT) as an adjunct faculty member. Kathy taught theological English courses and was involved in women's ministries. They, along with their children, were also involved in neighborhood outreach. Their desire was to be used of God so that the riches of His Word were taught in a clear and challenging manner in order that students were discipled and trained for ministry and the Indonesia church was equipped to fulfill her calling.

The Koniecznys, now rooted in the Canadian context, have taken up the responsibility of OMF's Canadian national leadership. This entails OMF member care and development, team building, mission recruitment, mission education, and the spearheading of OMF Canada's strategic initiatives that impact East Asia's peoples. Richard is also an adjunct faculty member at Tyndale Theological Seminary in the missions department as well as an adjunct faculty member at the SAAT seminary in Malang, Indonesia, in the area of biblical studies.
