Mary Haag

Missionary to Cambodia

Having spent one term of service in the Philippines, Mary set her sights on working with Cambodians in 1995. She now works with students at a university in Phnom Penh.

She was born to Christian parents in Montana, and put her trust in God through the influence of her sister's genuine Christianity as well as through reading God's Word while in college.

Following a study-abroad opportunity to England and Germany, Mary completed a B.Th. degree at Prairie Bible Institute in Canada as the first stage toward full-time service.

Her first exposure to OMF came through reading biographies of Hudson Taylor and J.O. Fraser. Involvement in a Southeast Asia prayer group and a ministry to Cambodian refugees led Mary to the assurance that God wanted her to be a missionary in Asia with OMF.

Following Bible school Mary began interning part-time at her church, Emerald Bible Fellowship in Eugene, Oregon. During these three additional years of preparation she was able to study two semesters with the Summer Institute of Linguistics. Her life and ministry in the Philippines began the fall of 1989. She started work in Cambodia in 1995.
