Larry and Anita DuBois

Missionaries to the Philippines

With a burden for strengthening the ministry of the church through leadership development and Christian education, Larry and Anita DuBois have returned to the Philippines.

Saved as a teenager in 1960, Larry committed himself to full-time Christian ministry while stationed on Okinawa in the Air Force. His call to missions was confirmed during his study at Columbia Bible College. Drawn to the Lord by the godly model of her mother’s life, Anita committed her life to missionary service in seventh grade. The Lord brought Larry and Anita together as co-leaders of CBC’s Student Missions Fellowship Asian prayer group.

Following their marriage in 1971 and Larry’s two years as associate pastor and youth director in south Jersey, they joined OMF in 1974. With daughters Jenny (1972), Joy (1974) and Debi (1976), they served for two terms as church planters among the Tawbuid people of Mindoro in the Philippines. David (1981) was born during their second term.

They resigned from OMF in 1981 to minister to family needs and invested seven years in lay ministry at Larry’s home church in Florida. Through ministry opportunities (teaching Sunday school, teacher training and discipleship classes) their burden to strengthen the local church through Christian education became focused and their ministry gifts confirmed.

To prepare to use their gifts effectively, Larry earned his Master’s in Christian Education at Columbia International University (CIU) in 1993.

Anita earned her MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) in May, 1995. While preparing to return to Asia, Larry worked as a cabinet maker and bookbinder and also as an adjunct field education supervisor at CIU. Anita was employed at CIU as a public relations staff writer and most recently as administrative assistant for the Muslim Studies program.

Larry and Anita arrived in the Philippines in September, 1999, and are involved in ministry based on the island of Luzon through the Alliance of Bible Christian Communities of the Philippines (ABCCOP).
