Ralph and Miho Clatworthy

Church planting in Japan

Our Vision
Our vision is to establish a strong, Japanese-led church in Hatazawa, a suburb of Tokuo. There is no other Christian work in Hatazawa. Since we started working there, by God's grace, church attendance has grown threefold. We are looking forward to returning to Hatazawa and continuing the work.

Our Background
Ralph comes from Little Rock, Arkansas, and believed in Jesus Christ after reading the Gospel of Matthew in a hotel room in India. He joined OMF in 1987 and met Miho at the church he was attending while studying in language school. Miho, a native of Sapporo, Japan, became a Christian when she attended an OMF English camp while in high school. They were married in 1989 and have finished three terms of missionary service together.

About Hatazawa, Japan
The area is historically famous for fishing. Now one of the largest steel mills in the world is located there, and most church members are connected to the mill. And in recent years with improved transportation to Tokyo, increasing numbers of commuters call the area home.

About OMF International
OMF was started by Hudson Taylor as the China Inland Mission in 1865. OMF is an international, interdenominational mission board committed to the urgent evangelization of East Asia's peoples.
