David and Gladys Chang

Missionaries to Thailand

As a teenager, David, involved in a Christian band, began to develop a burden for reaching the lost through music. After graduating from high school, he took a trip to East Asia, which the Lord used to call David to serve Him in Asia. After graduating from Temple University with a degree in music, David went to Thailand as an apprentice with OMF. His burden to reach the Thai people only grew stronger. In 1999 he went to Singapore Bible College where he met Gladys.

Gladys came to know the Lord when she first went to Singapore as a teenager. In 1994 she committed herself to the Lord and to missions during a conference held in her church. The Lord led her into full-time studies at Singapore Bible College. She became more convinced of her calling through many short-term trips and through living in a cross-cultural environment.

David and Gladys were married in December 2000 and joined OMF in June 2002. They are now serving in Thailand and are praying for more workers to join them in reaching the Thai Buddhists. David and Gladys have two children, Daniel and Faith.

Their ministry

Bangkok is one of the megacities in Asia. The needs of the urban poor in this city are enormous. David and Gladys are reaching out to Thai Buddhists through various community projects and friendship building. They also consider themselves lifelong learners of the Thai language and culture. Their vision is to see the gospel received and lives transformed, as well as to see churches planted, strengthened and multiplied among this people group. They value teamwork nad partnership with local believers and other missionaries in order to accomplish the task. The strategy of reaching Thai Buddhists must involve not only missionaries going and serving overseas, but also believers from home willing to pray and to send.
