Dan and Lindie Bacon
Leadership Development
Dr. Dan Bacon understands missions and today's Christians. He knows missions is more than just numbers, strange customs and unfamiliar people groups. And while he knows "his stuff," he will not overwhelm you with remote statistics.
He will state that Asia is the largest, most unreached continent on earth, but he won't leave it at that. Dan provides a positive look at missions and show how to become a part of what God is doing in that most influential section of the globe.
He believes God's ultimate plan for reaching Asia is His church - a wide mix of ordinary and extraordinary Christians who take the Great Commission seriously. For every level of missions involvement, Dan's down-to-earth communication style challenges to a higher level of obedience to Christ's command.
Originally from Spokane, Washington, Dan met Christ as a psychology student at Whitworth College. He received his master's degree in theology from Dallas Theological Seminary and later earned his doctorate in missiology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
Dan's wife, Lindie, has a long missions heritage - her parents and grandparents having been CIM missionaries in China. Dan and Lindie joined OMF in 1967 as church planters in northern Japan. His leadership made him an obvious choice to oversee OMF's Japan language school for two years. He also taught at Hokkaido Bible Institute before serving on the leadership team at OMF's international headquarters in Singapore. During their ten years in Asia, Dan and Lindie helped plant three congregations. Serving as the US. Director for 20 years, they played a vital part in drawing the attention of American evangelicals to the spiritual needs of Asia.
From 1998 to 2000 Dan and Lindie moved to Singapore to take on the role of International Director for Mobilization. After that they moved back to the U.S. and Dan became the Director for Member Development, serving OMF members by helping them develop spiritually and as leaders.
Although now reassigned since 2004, Dan and Lindie are still actively involved in leadership development for OMF and other agencies
