Georgia Anderson
Ministry to Missionaries in Japan
Georgia was born in Pennsylvania, the third of three children, into a working-class family. Her siblings were ten and twelve when she was born. She had what she remembers as a happy childhood, which included attendance at a United Presbyterian church.
After her sister’s marriage in 1955, Georgia spent some weekends and special vacation times with her and her husband. Going to church with them was different because they went to small Bible-believing churches and attended tent meetings and revivals. Georgia began to learn about her need for salvation and a personal relationship with the Savior. After a series of meetings one summer, she decided to accept the offer of a new life.
She earned a B.S. degree in home economics education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and has since worked at a number of jobs, such as extension home economist, junior high teacher, houseparent, recreation coordinator for the elderly, preschool director and child care licensor. Presently she is caring for infants at a local technical school.
In 1999 Georgia joined an international team working on the Japan office project for OMF in Ichikawa, Japan. On two additional trips, she has worked as the OMF guest home manager at that location. During her most recent time there, her desire to serve the Lord in Japan became very strong, and she has felt led to pursue membership with OMF. Georgia is thankful to be able to serve God by serving others.
Presently working on support development, Georgia is looking toward returning to work in Japan by 2006.
