While still at school Patrick began to hear God’s calling to Japan. He recalls: “I devised my plan for the future. I never prayed much about it. I assumed it would all be good and pleasing to the Lord. There was little wrong with my plan. In fact, there was only one thing wrong with my plan; it was my plan for my life. But as I prayed, I began to see things differently. I asked the Lord what he wanted me to do with my life. I became truly willing to do anything.”

 

One thing after another confirmed that Japan was the “anything” God had in store for Patrick. Obediently Patrick moved to Japan and began trying to share the gospel. He persevered in week after week of evangelistic rallies and hour after hour of door-to-door meetings, yet nothing seemed to come of it all. If this was God’s will why was there so little fruit?
