Ready for Camp
Andrew Shaw - Thursday 14 August 2008
We have prepared the workshops. We have practised the skit. Now it is farewell to the comforts of K-Hall (aircon and toast) and off to Camp from Friday to Sunday, amid students and short-termers, missionaries and mosquitoes… True, there is much that looks good in the programme of water-filled ‘Olympic Games’ balloon activities. What is SO good is that the Gospel will be proclaimed in Thai, with Thai believers sharing their testimonies.
It has been wonderful to get to know them. This evening, we had a big goodbye; Thai ‘Duck, Duck, Goose’ and Thai Kabaddi (more violent), a meal and then gifts, for the girls a beautifully wrapped parcel (what was it?) and for the guys a chicken, stuffed chicken, each. Andrew’s ‘Funky Chicken’ dance has left quite an impression.
I am overjoyed that, in answer to our prayers, over twenty, from the Youth House and fresh contacts through the campus outreach and English classes, are coming. If I had one word to describe Andrew, Ari, Becky and Simon as a team it might well be ‘enthusiastic’, or ‘zealous’. They have been an encouragement to me, and I know also to the brothers and sisters here.
Prayer Points
- Pray for much energy for us, plus a willingness to serve!
- Pray for those teaching, for clarity and discernment.
- Pray for the non-Christians travelling from Phitsanulok and elsewhere to Camp, that their hearts would be softened.
- Pray for the Christians, that they would enjoy fellowship and that they would be rooted and established in Christ.
Chris
