Now that we're tourists... Tuk-tuks, markets and elephant rides!

Andrew Shaw - Wednesday 20 August 2008

On the Monday following camp we were exhausted so we rested all morning which was nice. We then went to Bangkok city centre on a boat and got to see both real Bangkok and tourist Bangkok. Claire Wilkinson took us to a night market and we also rode a tuk-tuk for the first time. This turned into a race which was so fun that we can't remember who won. (Boys, editing the blog: We did.)

When we met Julia at Sizzlers we devoured a steak dinner with an 'all you can eat' salad buffet. We felt this was well deserved British food. There was cheese. Simon, as usual, took advantage of the offer and ate to his heart's content.

Tuesday was a floating market, abnormal crocodile, elephant football and Thai massage/walk to a famous bridge filled day. We were full of adrenaline as we watched men stick their heads in a crocodile's mouth and fed monkeys with peanuts. That night we travelled up to our guest house near the river Kwai. It was beautiful.

Today we had an early start and headed over to the museum. We took a train ride following the river; the scenery was beautiful. Later on Becky, Aree, Simon and Andrew sat on elephants and trotted through the chocolate brown river J . It was WELL good, the best thing ever in fact. Debrief and trip to the Grand Palace and shopping still to come!!
