Happy Mothers’ Day!

Andrew Shaw - Tuesday 12 August 2008

Happy Mothers’ Day! On Sunday, we headed to a larger church in the centre of Phitsanulok, where Mothers’ Day was noticeable. The colour out in force today is blue, as that is the colour of the current Queen (whose birthday dictates the timing of Mothers’ Day)!

The last few days have seen lots of exciting things going on! We have had more opportunities to go out onto campus and do surveys, chatting to people about their beliefs, and about Jesus. We are getting there with learning how to speak slowly, and write everything down! Thai students have a really good reading level, so we often find ourselves writing down everything we say, and doing various drawings and actions!

We were also excited to see lots of non-Christian students attend the Cool Café on Friday. It was encouraging talking again with some of the students we had spoken to on surveys; and to see students enjoying themselves, and hearing the good news about Jesus Christ.

Other points of note: English teaching has been fun, and is drawing in new people to the Youth House all the time; we made another trip to Swenson’s on Sunday; and we witnessed many different styles of cockroach removal whilst also watching ‘The Kite Runner’ Saturday!

Prayer Points

- Praise that God keeps bringing students to hear about Jesus.

- Pray that we would be faithful in proclaiming the gospel when we are given the opportunity.

- Pray that we would be bold in chatting to the contacts we have made, and inviting students to camp.

- Pray for the practicalities and organisation of camp (this coming weekend).

- Pray for the non-Christian students attending camp; that God would be softening hearts even now so that they may understand the truth.
