Getting there!

Andrew Shaw - Wednesday 23 July 2008

We have now safely arrived in Thailand, and we’re enjoying a rest day at the OMF Home in Bangkok.

You’ll be pleased to hear that we did all successfully manage to get up in time! Despite the early start, we managed to navigate the Heathrow security system successfully and board the plane in plenty of time, we even had time for a quick latte with Kathryn, the Serve Asia Teams Co-ordinator for the UK, beforehand.

The first flight took us to Mumbai, and it was commented on afterwards that we had forgotten what life before being in a plane was like! We touched down slightly late, about 11:30pm local time, to find the temperature still at 30ºC, and the humidity high!

The second flight took us straight onto Bangkok, and were able to see Thailand from the air on a clear early morning. The view was breathtaking, and certainly got us excited about the trip! One of the most notable parts of our journey was the sheer number of times we were fed by the Indian Airlane we flew with; we seemed to have fairly constant meals, including the last one overnight at about 4:00am!

We travel out on the train tomorrow morning to Phitsanulok, which will be the final leg in getting to our destination. For those of you in the UK, we are 6 hours ahead, and the temperature is higher!
