Ups, Downs and Crocodiles
Thailand Birkett - Tuesday 21 August 2007We hit the half way mark this week, and with it, a general lull in our enthusiasm and drive.
But we've had lots of encouragements: seeing God at work in students' lives, opportunities to hang out with students, have fun with them and chat to them about Jesus, and a good day yesterday (saturday) in Nakon Sawan for the Central Thailand TCS (Thai Christian Students) evangelistic day out.
Just so you can get a feel for it, the day began with feeding crocodiles (!?), followed by a boat ride around a swamp (the largest in Thailand apparently!), continued with games (many and varied) and music (thankfully no spice girls this time - just pure doctrine: 'Our God is a Great Big God'!) at a park (organised by us lot), and ended with a Korean BBQ at Nakon Sawan Church while David gave a short (translated) talk about success and what we are looking for in life.
Praise God for the grace of being able to be flexible as we found ourselves having to change location very suddenly upon feeling the signs of an approaching monsoon!! We were able to do this with relatively little stress or impact to our plans!
Here is how we were all feeling after yesterday:
Matt - absent
Roz - shattered, but manic
Alison - deflated but enjoying randomness on the bus
Rosie - trusting that God was going to keep working
Helen - lovin every minute
David - tired
Jillian - she is in bed right now...so perhaps tired? Its just speculation though.
Please pray:
- For the students who came on the trip - that they would really consider the impact of what they heard about Jesus
- For energy to keep putting our all into the final week's events
- For continued opportunities to have valuable times with the students, and the grace to be wise in linking up non-Christian students with Thai Christian students.
