Coming to the end...

John Goodwin TH Mac indiv - Saturday 25 August 2007

Hey there!

I expect this will be my last post before I head home on Tuesday - so hopefully a good one.

This week on Tuesday Johnny began a series of basic Christian living Bible studies. It really is amazing to see the eagerness for Bible study amongst the students, and many who came were those who’ve been coming on Thursday nights too.

  • Pray that the Christians who come along will be encouraged by the truths they study and want to live out their faith. Pray that God would be maturing his people here.

  • Pray for one unbeliever who came because she wants to find out more about Jesus, but can’t come on Thursday.

We had loads of people at the evangelistic Bible study on Thursday and were looking at the resurrection; again it was great to see the new Christians there – and to be encouraged by what they were contributing.

  • Pray for another girl who came to the Bible study this week. She comes to the youth house regularly and seems to want to find out more…

In other news…

On Monday we went swimming! (well some people swam and the rest of us watched and enjoyed the sun). The pool had a fairly high diving platform and there were several boys who were enjoying jumping off and narrowly missing people swimming by. Interestingly this didn’t seem to be a potential hazard to the pool attendants…

Today we went for a goodbye L meal at a restaurant on the river bank. It’s weird to think I’ll be leaving in less than 3 days…It’s been great to have been involved in the work here and to have the chance to get to know the brothers and sisters here, and this week particularly I’ve really felt a part of the youth house student family – but now it’s time to go. It’s going to be hard to say goodbye!

I’ve asked Nam, one of the student team for some prayer requests…

  • Pray for Johnny, Ann, Bob, Aun and Nam who are involved in the running of the youth house. Pray for God to use them and the opportunity here to save his people.

  • Pray for the students to continue following Christ and grow to love him more. Pray that they would grow also in godliness and be distinctive before the world, remaining unashamed and joyful in the hope they have.

I hope to post again, back in England, so until that or until I see you, goodbye!

Love, John
