The Plan

- Thursday 19 July 2007

Before I start please excuse the brevity of this entry, as well as the probably numerous typos - there is no rule that says English students should be good at spelling, that is what poor hand-writing and spell-checkers were invented for. I only have about 10 minutes to cover so much!

Our time of orientation with Elspeth and John Taylor (long-serving, wonderfully hospitable and lovely OMFers who form the Sendai team with another couple, the Graces, and Natania, a short-term worker) was a great opportunity to get our heads around some of the things planned for the next few weeks.

The intention in Sendai is for OMF to continue its work in the Izumi Park Town area, where there is currently a church (see imaginatively titled "Church" entry for more info), and the area around Kitayama, where one of the church members owns a student accommodation home (Pension Shalom), where we are all staying. So our role is to organise various outreach events, International Cafes, `At Homes` and other things, repeating the same events in both areas, in order to establish contacts which will hopefully lead to many coming to put their trust in the Lord Jesus.

Our time is therefore split between flyering and publicity for these events, going into universities with Jim Grace and John Taylor as they teach English classes in order to make more contacts, and preparing and holding these events.

It`s so exciting to know that God`s eternal plan is to save a people for himself from all nations, and that includes Japan... but sobering to see thousands of lost Japanese people hurrying through life so far from a knowledge of the truth and without any way of hearing the gospel. So our prayer is that in all that we do here we would be urgent and bold, but always trusting in God`s promises and His sovereignty.

Eek 30 seconds left... I think I`ll have to close there. Head on to "Making Contact" for an update...
