We're finally in Japan!

- Wednesday 11 July 2007

After a long period of anticipation, we finally stepped on Japanese soil this morning (11 July, 11-ish, GMT +9), and as you can probably guess, we're all very excited! We do thank God for the the safe and enjoyable flight, and for clearing the customs smoothly at Tokyo Narita airport. We're currently stationed in Ichikawa (near Tokyo) and shall be here for at least a week.

After a late but delicious lunch of obento' (Japanese lunch-box) from the nearby convenience store, the orientation commenced, and we had a very fun 2-hour cultural scavenger hunt around the city centre where we had some first-hand experience of Japanese culture and everyday life, which is very interesting indeed. Check out the pictures below!

We thank God for all that we've learnt today and please pray that He'll help us to

1. appreciate such cultural differences,

2. apply what we've learnt diligently (e.g. be more specific in our prayers),

3. and to continue learning more in the next few days of orientation!

Please also pray that we'll recover from jet lag or whatever form of exhaustion due to the 11-hour flight, and for some of us, to master the art of using chopsticks!
