Kids' Songs
- Tuesday 17 July 2007Today, we practised the kids' songs for the first time, and we are faced with the daunting task of coordinating 5 instruments (piano, guitar, bass, 2 saxophones) and the singing in a short span of a week. The singing (subtle differences) and actions also had to be standardised for the sake of uniformity and so as not to confuse the kids to whom we'll be teaching these. We also had to bear in mind some pedegogical issues like not teaching the actions to the children until they are confident with the words (thanks to Ruth for her advice!). So, it's not that easy after all!
Our first kids' songs practice turned out reasonably well (thank God for that), but far from perfect (pray for that). And of course, it has been very enjoyable, and it's especially amazing how we can declare so many wonderful truths about God in very simple words (which is very encouraging for us, since this means that we actually can share some very profound truths in simple English with the Japanese). Also, we thank the Lord for providing us with a 'wicked' (quoting Lu, slang for 'great') melody that Lloyd composed. Hutch and Lloyd are working on the lyrics for this melody to be used as one of the kids' songs. So, it would be great if you could pray for the following:
- Our constant dependence on God for creativity and coordination.
- His guidance as Hutch and Lloyd writes the lyrics.
- His help as we communicate the Christian faith to the Japanese in simple English, whenever the opportunity may arise (but of course, that our Japanese will continue to improve too).
