Rolling up the sleeves
Tony Waghorn - Wednesday 09 July 2008Hey everyone!
Join with us in rejoicing; we are as of Saturday a full team! Philip, our one remaining team member, bullet-trained in on saturday afternoon, just in time to join us for orientation and a meal with the Taylors. We went over the schedule for our time here; although somewhat daunting it's really very exciting, and we're all ready to jump in feet first!
On sunday we went to Izumi Park town church for morning worship. This is my home congregation here in Japan; so of course for me it was incredibly special to see the congregation members after so long. There have been come changes in the structure of the service, and its wonderful to see that there are a lot of international people joining in for worship, including many people from Australia and the states. After the service we went to Jim and Terui Grace's for lunch, and from there into town, where we took Sara with us to karaoke.
Today (Tuesday) Peter and I went to Tohoku university; a university of great academic excellence. The demographic is more international than in other universities. The standard of English is excellent and it would be really good if some of the students would accept our invitation to attend our International Cafes. Philip and Hannah later went to Myagi women's college and also invited the students to some and join in our outreach events. Tonight will be the first At Home; a disney themed party in the dorm.
This week will be busy, so please pray that we'll find enough time to do everything and have enough energy to do it cheerfully!
Thank you and God bless.
