Welcome to the blog for the fmZero Serve Asia team 2008. Once again, we come from Christchurch Durham to support our mission partner Richard East in his ministry with students in Sapporo. There are just five of us this year, led by Mark, a veteran from last year's trip. We head out on 30th June, returning on the 1st August, and we hope this blog will be useful for your information and prayers.

  • Thursday 17th...

Firstly, apologies for the lack of recent blog posts. It has not been allowing us to update for quite a few days now, so it is not just us being lazy!   Plenty has been happening, we have much to be so grateful for over the last week. Tom and Annie enjoyed wonderful fellowship with their homestay families, as well as being put through the ordeal of traditional Japanese meals! The Frida...

We also had dinner with Pastor Honda at Minami Church, which was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Japanese church and to be encouraged by the pastor in our evangelism with students in Tokai. Friday...

  • First contact

Just time to update the blog in a few moments for individual correspondence. We have had one full day here so far, after a 30-hour Monday which was as tiring as expected. Having met Alaric and Alex, two members of the fmZero team, and settling in to our respective accommodation, we got to bed at 8:30pm, rising to meet Tuesday after a respectable 11-hour catch-up. On Tuesday we began with a te...

  • Getting ready

Having plagiarised Goody's excellent work on these pages last year, the blog is just about set up, by mysterious impostor "Tony" Welch! Meanwhile Tom Welch and the rest of the team are all currently in our different localities around the country, but are heading down to Annie's on Sunday afternoon before catching our Virgin flight on Monday. Leaving at 1pm English time, we have a 12...
