Margaret in Thailand - Saturday 14 August 2010Week 1 Friendliness and openness: Arrived safely, settled in and went on a day trip toayutthaya where we encountered something puzzling: a gentleman went out of his way to get seats for us whilst waiting for the train back to Bangkok and to make sure we got on the train where they would be seats - but he himself was not getting on the train! Whilst there is the challenge of being confronted with temples almost everywhere, however, this does mean that people are more open to talk about spiritual things and so we have encountered people who are open to talk, for example, a couple of conversations in a 'songtaw' - truck with two benches.
