ChinaJim is a pragmatic man from the North of Britain. Born sometime around 1980, son of a draughtsman, he prays that he will be able to draw God’s design on people’s lives in Asia. He has five loves:

1. God, 2. Logic, 3. Asia, 4. Church, 5. ChinaJane

    ChinaJim

Welcome to the first of our online blogs. We hope you find it helpful. Having felt a call to live and minister in East Asia, we have been in the application process for OMF International for about one year now. Apparently we are being fast-tracked through the process!

I don’t know who first suggested that OMF stands for “One Million Form...

Well, a lot has happened since we signed off our last online journal. You may remember that we had just been accepted by the Scottish Council of OMF. Thus we ended up in the final stage of the application process: a two week candidate’s course in Sevenoaks, Kent.

We gathered with forty other adults and their children for a three and a half week course. Singapore is a really easy place for us Brits to get used to. They drive on the left, speak English and shop in Marks & Spencers. IHQ is pretty plush too, oppo...

    Chinajim gives the facts:

Well here we are, finally in East Asia. No, we’re not yet in our field country but we’re getting really close!

You must be gaining the impression that joining OMF moves slower than a sedated tortoise. Indeed it’s now been eighteen months since we put in our application forms. However the whole process has been great preparation for going...

  • Spring 2007 - Arrived, but not entirely here

    MRANDMRSCHINAJIM JOURNAL SIX

    Chinajim gives the facts:

We’ve finally arrived! Here we are, in our field country at last, slowly settling in.

Due to delayed flights, we arrived here from Thailand at 4 o’clock in the morning! We arrived in the dark at the flat which will be our home for the next few years. The next day, we were able to...
