Recognising that pastoral care of the entire congregation is too much for a single person, a handful of Vietnamese churches have organised their members into cell-groups, based either on location, or on age and marital status. Spending time in each other’s homes for prayer, fellowship and encouragement takes their faith out of the church building and into every day life.
- Praise our Father for the love and care expressed by cell-group members for each other. Pray that many more churches would encourage cell-groups, and that God would raise up the necessary leaders.
- Ask the Lord for ‘big hearts’ – that cell-groups would not become cliques, and that old, young, married and singles, would demonstrate unity and love in Christ.
- As cell-group members feel more confident and comfortable about their faith, perhaps unbelieving friends and relatives could also be invited to the groups, and so experience Christian community?
