Teams for 2011
English Teaching
5th July to 2nd August - Supporting a resident team by providing teacher training and conversation practice. This is part of a long-term provincial programme to provide interaction with foreigners and further professional training to all English language teachers in the province. Not all participants need to be teachers.
July to August (three weeks) - Teaching in a residential school to minority students in a pretty rural area in South West China. A third of candidates should be teachers (or TEFL trained) and half should be able to speak Mandarin)
December (two weeks) - Christmas party team. To go to a beautiful city in South West China and provided Christmas focussed lessons for undergraduates and postgraduates. You will also host a couple of small parties for children from a local school and a local church.
Health and Medical
End July - Kindergarten Team. In Central China there is an inclusive kindergarten with mainstream and special needs children. We send experts over there to offer advice and training (and some hands-on work) on supporting and enabling the special needs children. Mandarin is not required. Professional expertise is. We are looking for Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Music Therapists, etc. Social Workers may also be welcome.
August (one week) - 4-6 members. We are looking for experts in ER or management of traumatic issue and transferring to higher level hospital care. This is an outback county level hospital with basic expertise in infection control. Mandarin is essential.
Agriculture
May/June (one week) - 1-3 people needed to assess and verify the interim result of a potato variety trial program, in order to plan for a holistic community development project, replacement of degenerating potato variety.
