If you were OMF, how would you tell people about China? We could write an article about every city. We could tell you about the weather and the food. We could recommend hotels and churches. We could tell you the places we've visited that really weren't worth the effort. However, so many of you good people have been to China now. You've stayed in the hotels, you've been bored at the poet's cottage. Would you be so good as to share your wisdom with us and future visitors to the site. Or just spin the yarn of your stay in the city. Every month we aim to profile a new city - watch this space. In the meantime, we have a few starters. Could you tell us: good places to eat or not to eat; unmissable/missable sights; places to stay; your perspective on the TSPM Church; did you find a Christian bookshop; did you wear the wrong clothes; any other general impressions.

City of pandas, hotpot, pockmarked Tofu. Gateway to Tibet. Chairman Mao staring over Tianfu square.
Climate - hot and humid in the summer, cold and wet in the winter. Only these seasons. No Spring. No Summer.
Places to stay - I did the Traffic Hotel five years ago. Does it still smell of smoke? Backpacker friendly, great travel service. Is there a good quality, but che...

I've done the market near the great mosque and shopped underground near the drum tower (is it the drum or the bell?). I've never stayed in a hotel since I've only ever been put up by friends. Anyone know of a good place to stay? Low budget, high...

Kunming
Camellia Hotel. Can it be bettered? The neo-colonial lounge area with the white piano. Friendly reception with reasonable English. Walking distance of city centre. VERY reasonable price. Can't, however, comment on the food. I would say slightly over-priced. Too many good holes in the wall within walking distance to get Across the Bridge Noodles to try to eat at the Camellia.
I've...

Beijing
Pronounced BeiDJing, not Beiʒing.
Massive. Enormous. Huge shops. Still Chinese though. Can anyone point us in the direction of Western food and snacks? Does Beijing pass the Marmite test of a truly international city?
I've been in BJ many times but never on a Sunday. Have you been to Beijing International Christian Fellowship, Sino Japanese Centre (adj. 21st Century...
