BBC The One Show features Hudson Taylor

The story of potentially many Chinese Christians visiting Barnsley to see Hudson Taylor's birthplace has been featured in various national newspapers in the past few weeks.The BBC featured the story on The One Show, 31 Jan 7pm (watch on the BBC iPlayer)

The Barnsley Hudson Taylor group are planning to erect more plaques informing visitors about Hudson Taylor. Many local people also seem unaware of the heritage this town has in the story of the Gospel reaching inland China.

Philippines Floods

From Field Director, Mark Chapman: As more bodies are being recovered the official death toll has risen sharply to over 700. Hundreds remain missing and are feared dead.

The worse hit areas are Cagayan de Oro and Iligan cities, with whole villages being swept into the sea.

None of our workers were affected but the floods. However, we do have many friends and partners in the area. At this stage all seem to be safe and sound.

North Korean state news has announced the death of the North Korean leader.

A later report from KCNA said Mr Kim had had a heart attack.

Flooding in Thailand

Several countries in East Asia are suffering from severe flooding, including Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines. Pray particularly for Thailand where 59 of the 77 provinces have been affected. Reservoirs are at maximum capacity and flood defences are failing. This weekend will be a critical time as large volumes of water continue to flow south towards Bangkok.

Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan

An 8.9 magnitude earthquake struck the north-east region of Japan on 11 March 14:46 local time, about 250 miles from Tokyo and 20 miles below the surface. A large tsunami followed hitting Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures.
