The Least of These...

To be honest, in our eyes Phii Daa, Phii Uan and their daughter, Nong Noi, were not really prime candidates to begin a church. But Gods plan was different. He chose those who were least in our village. We got to know them because Phii Uan helped us to pour concrete at our house. Over the months our families became friends. They had no job, lived in a shack on government land outside the village and had health and marriage problems. But they became more and more hungry for God, and started to put their faith in Him.
Phii Daa asked God to give her husband a job. After three weeks he got a full-time job as a security guard! Phii Daa was already convinced that God is real and cares for them, but Phii Uan wasn't sure yet. Not long after that, Phii Uan had to undergo an operation. When he didn't wake up from the anaesthetic, Phii Daa went outside to pray. Ten minutes later he woke up. Even the doctors were startled when he said he had seen angels.
Every Sunday we sing together and explain the Bible. They don't have so many fights anymore. Their health has improved. A few months ago they decided to get rid of their idols and really put their trust in God. Family and neighbors sometimes mock them, but they remain firm. People are starting to see that something really has changed them. We pray and believe that this is only the beginning of the story. Phii Uan and Phii Daa are the first fruits of a great harvest as God will build His church in Nong Rua. Glory to God! (David van der Lee, church-planting, Isaan)
