Outreach to Thai Diaspora in Washington, D.C.
06/05/2008 12:48 pm
Thai Pastor Supot, who has a church in this area, estimates that there are 30,000 Thai living in and around Washington, DC. For a May 3rd Outreach, they have advertised in Thai newspapers and at Thai restaurants. There have been advertisements in local church bulletins and local newspapers. There will be a painter sharing the gospel as he paints, a representative from the Thai embassy speaking about Thailand, as well as Pastor Supot and his church doing evangelism through drama, Thai dance, testimonies and preaching. There will be booths where people can sign up for ESL programs at nearby churches (where there is an evangelistic outreach through ESL) and find out more about the Thai church. Others can hear the story of Easter while painting Easter eggs, hear the story of Thanksgiving from “Governor Bradford” while coloring Thanksgiving pictures with verses on them, eat Thai food, have their pictures taken in Thai or American costume, or look at Thai artifacts. Or some can take part in a Thai Campus Crusade outreach where the gospel is shared and prizes are given out as people answer questions about the gospel. There will be book tables with Christian/evangelistic books in Thai and English. As you can see, it will be quite an eclectic day! A retired OMF missionary couple and an OMF family on Home Assignment will help set up and participate. (submitted by Scott and Jen Tibbets, on Home Assignment from Thailand)
- Pray for many to attend
- Pray for God to open many hearts and that those who come will get connected to a Thai church or a Western church with ESL evangelistic programs
- Pray for careful, fearless and loving follow-up in the weeks after this outreach
