Meeting Felt Needs

Making disciples of the urban poor in Bangkok often includes meeting their felt-needs. A lady named Pom that we have known for the past year has many felt-needs. She lost a grow-up son a few years ago, and needs emotional healing and comfort. She runs a provisional shop in the middle of a poor community, which is currently enough to provide for her financial needs. However, she is one among many who may be evacuated from the area because of new roads being built by the government. She is a temporary occupant who has need of long term housing and financial security.
Pom often shares about her exciting trips with a group of older ladies who visit many Buddhist temples throughout the country to make merit together. She has a spiritual need and a need to be part of a loving community. For many months we have shared the gospel with her through a DVD and introduced Jesus who is able to meet her spiritual and felt needs. Pom always welcomes us and listens intently. What is holding her back from following Jesus? Is it fear that she will loose her community of Buddhist friends if she decides to follow Jesus? Please pray. (David Chang, church-planting, Bangkok)

- Pray for many Christmas outreaches in homes and churches throughout Bangkok during the Christmas holiday season.
