May the "Village of God" meet the true God

I was passing out tracts in the "Village of God" but disappointed that 'God' in the name of the village did not mean the Creator of heaven and earth. "Have there ever been people here who told about the Creator-God?" I asked the oldest man of the village. "O, yes," he answered without hesitation. "When I was 21 years old, a missionary came here. He told us everything about the Creator and about Jesus. But we did not want to become Christians." That was 60 years ago and this man remembered!
As I continued I took a picture of five Buddha images in a row, covered in gold leaf in a shack at the temple. In a conversation with another old man I learned that the original images were stolen decades back and these are just substitutes. "All of the thieves died suddenly", he said with clear satisfaction in his voice. "But these images are just as holy! If you take a picture and you don't ask their permission first, the picture disappears from your camera." I nodded politely and thought about the picture that I just took. It is at the top of this article! (Marten Visser, church-planting, Isaan)

  • Pray for the people of this village to meet the true God
  • Pray for the thousands of villages that don't yet have a church or Christian group
  • Pray for Marten and his team as they survey an unreached area of Isaan this month to determine where God is leading for new church planting efforts.
