Easter Celebration Victory Parade

09/05/2011 8:36 am OMF Thailand <th-itSPAMFILTER@omf.net>

Ten churches met in front of the big High School in Saraburi, Central Thailand for an Easter Celebration Victory Parade. At about 4pm we started the 3 kilometer walk to Grace Church. The parade was led by a fancy police truck with flashing red lights. Next in line, came a vehicle with a big wooden cross on the back. Then came the people with well- prepared banners like "Jesus is alive." A young woman wore a classical Thai dress fit for a queen! She held our church's sign as she led the crowd of about 150 plus people. We all wore white shirts with different colored hats or scarves, depending on which church we represented. Bringing up the rear was a truck with loud speakers for music and clear explanations of Easter.
Huge, black rain clouds had been threatening. A couple arrived from a town 15 kilometers south of Saraburi who reported that it was raining so hard there that their wipers could not brush the rain off in time and had to crawl at a very slow speed with the lights on! So, before starting out, a number of us prayed for clear skies. And it did not rain! Apparently it continued to rain hard just 10 kilometers away, but not in Saraburi! I was so happy living in the dream I had years ago, thinking that someday I would see a big cross raised high in the middle if this city with Christians joyfully singing, praying, and worshiping God openly! Please pray for:

  • For the by-standers of this parade to keep thinking about what they witnessed and to seek the Lord for themselves.
  • Praise God for the unity of the churches in Saraburi Province. Pray that it would continue and that churches in all of the provinces of Thailand would walk together in peace and unity.
