A Thai “Samaritan” Woman

Originally from Kampengphet, Sanai was living with her nephew on Phuket Island in order to make a better living from the tourist industry there. This whole family lives in a run-down one-bedroom home with mats on the floor and not much else. Sanai joined her nephew to attend a prayer meeting at the missionary’s house. During the meeting, a local pastor also joined them. As soon as the meeting was over, the pastor started chatting with Sanai, which led to giving a clear explanation of the gospel, which led to Sanai wanting to pray to receive Jesus. Before she prayed she fiddled with a little amulate pinned inside her shirt and handed it to the pastor. She wanted it destroyed, not tossed out or resold for a good price. She was making a decision to follow Jesus.
About a month later Sanai needed to return to her little village in North-Central Thailand because her daughter would be having a baby. In a phone call to her nephew she told how her neighbors are all interested in this Jesus, and they are praying to receive Him. Sanai reminds us of that Samaritan woman who met Jesus at the well, went home and shared about this person whom she had met, and how He knew everything about her (John 4). What a joy! A village in the country, one very new believer with her new Bible and the light of Jesus shining powerfully! (submitted by Rob and Judy Griffioen, church planting, Phuket, South Thailand)
- Pray for Sanai and her village to follow Jesus with all their hearts
- Pray for the church planting team in Phuket, reaching out to Thai from all over the country who move there to find employment.
- Pray that the team members will meet those people who are also seeking spiritual truth and who could bring the gospel to their home villages throughout the country.
