Chiayi

Chiayi , with a population of 260,000, is a secondary city heavily influenced by traditional folk religion. Chiayi County as very few Christians—in fact, the lowest percentage of Christians in the whole island. For this reason we have decided to focus our resources in reaching out to this area.

OMF has two ministry teams in Chiayi. One team has been working in the city for a number of years. It has been sharing the gospel in traditional markets, local parks and amongst working class youth. A number of meetings take place each week in a gospel center which also attracts many young people each week. You can read more about this in the article on Chiayi youth outreach .

In 2011 a second church planting team has been started in Zhongpu, a cluster of 22 villages with a population of 50,000 on the edge of Chiayi city.

Wayne & Angela Chen Wayne and Angela are originally from China/HK but now call Australia home. They came to Taiwan in 2001 with a vision to reach working-class people. They particularly have a burden for food stall and market workers. They are preparing themselves to serve in more remote areas in the near future. They currently lead the team based in Chiayi city.
							Seann & Amy Gibson Seann and Amy live in Zhongpu, Chiayi county where they head up our second Chiayi Team. They are members of World Team. They are seeking creative ways to plant working-class churches in the area. Visit the Gibsons' personal website at www.taiwanteam.org/gibson .

							Allan & Bronwyn Lihou Allan and Bronwyn have been in Taiwan since 2009, and moved to join the Chiayi City church planting ministry in 2011. The ministry is with workers in the market district, including younger and older family members through work in related schools and with youth at our gospel centre. They have 4 children. Mike and Matt attend high school in Taichung. Tim and Jo study at university in Sydney, Australia.
Thomas & Jennifer McIntyre Thomas & Jennifer have completed 2 years Taiwanese study and in February 2011 moved to Zhongpu with their daughter Ashlee. They have joined a new church planting team which is being established in that unreached town.
							Jacqui Ng Jacqui is a ministry intern serving in the Chiayi City team for two years.
Anja Lijcklama À Nijeholt Anja arrived from the Netherlands in December 2011. She will be working as a ministry intern with the Chiayi ministries for one year.
							Kerstin Richter She is involved in street outreach and a number of other ministries with the Chiayi city team.
Song & Julia Tsai Song and Julia, from the UK, have joined the Zhongpu team for two years as ministry interns.
